Synopsis:

In a vineyard home in autumn, in the quiet wine community of Saint Dymphnia, a young woman gives birth to her fathers daughter. The father, envious of the bond between the sisters, separates them.

Eight years later, psychologist Carl Phillips is left to raise his daughter Vicki after she survived the car accident that killed his wife. The eight-year-old Vicki has been a troubled child since her adoption by the Phillips family at the age of three. It is believed by some that Vicki, with her morbid curiosities, was responsible for the car accident--Carl knows this to be false and suspects a third party.

Being a specialist in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and certain that he can successfully treat her, Carl refuses to let his daughter be institutionalized. With the help of his friend Detective James Lemaux, Carl retains custody of Vicki and locates her biological mother.
The birth mother, Cassandra Bernard, seems eager to give any information she can that could possibly help. But it soon becomes apparent that Cassandra has plans to take over the position left by Carl's wife. Carl, still grieving from the recent loss and becoming leery of her intentions, rejects Cassandra's seduction.

When one of Carl's therapy patients is found buried beneath the vineyards of Saint Dymphnia, Carl accuses Cassandra. But homicide investigation reveals forensic evidence that puts Carl at the scene of the murder. Carl is taken into custody and the state places his daughter Vicki in the hands of her biological mother. By the time Detective Lemaux learns that Cassandra Bernard is responsible for the deaths of both Carl's patient and his wife, Cassandra and Vicki are nowhere to be found.

Detective Lemaux and a team of federal agents begin their systematic search for the killer and her captive. But it is Carl who understands the recesses of a deviant mind and therefore he comes face to face with his wife's true killer.

In the brisk autumn vineyards of Saint Dymphnia Carl learns that we are all, tragically, fruit of the same vine.

Dear Potential Investor,

We are currently seeking funds (USD) to complete the budget for the independent feature film Of The Vine to be filmed in Holland MI. In this package you will find an abundance of information, which illustrates in detail, our intentions for this project. We encourage you to examine the details thoroughly as we, the Producers, have spent an impressive amount of time, developing every facet, insuring a very marketable, universally appealing and attractively low-risk feature film investment opportunity.

In developing the psychological thriller feature film Of The Vine, we have assembled a packaged product, capable of an unusually rapid turnaround with reasonably low risk due to the very modest negative costs of the production. These elements, combined with the electrifying momentum of Odyssey Motion Pictures most recent feature productions Break starring David Carradine, Michael Madsen, and Charles Durning, which was recently released worldwide on DVD, and Gerald starring Louis Mandylor and Mickey Rooney, which is in post-production and already has award buzz in Hollywood, has made us confident that we are offering you the highest quality film investment opportunity in today's low budget independent market.

Thank you once again for taking the time to examine this information pertaining to our current production. We look forward to speaking with you and fielding any and all of your questions.

Sincerely,

Michael Walton (323) 791-8311

General Information

Marketing & Distribution:

Festivals: The goal of the production team is to shoot Of The Vine beginning October of 2011 in order to make the deadline for the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, which is in September. In addition to major international film festivals such as Sundance, Slamdance, Los Angeles, Seattle, AFI Dallas, Toronto,Telluride & Tribecca, Of The Vine will contend in a slew of small and mid size festivals around the world in order to garner prestige and notoriety.
Press: Of The Vine will get public reviews from various resources for promotional and acclaim purposes. Logan Court Films, in association with Odyssey Motion Pictures has built relationships with over a dozen film review websites and publications around the country. In addition, Of The Vine will make every effort to screen for Entertainment Tonight Film Critic Leonard Maltin's class at USC, in which the film is screened for 300 students and is followed by a Q&A with Mr. Maltin. This Q&A would also be included on the DVD as a bonus feature.
Viral Marketing: Logan Court Films and Odyssey Motion Pictures will exploit viral marketing strategies to promote this project to the web surfing public. Aside from maintaining details, photos and a trailer on both company sites, Of The Vine will be promoted on the popular websites FaceBook and YouTube.
Physical Marketing: One of the aspects that sets us apart from other independent production companies is that we incorporate marketing expenses into the budget of the film(s). It is important to promote the film through promotional materials such as posters, stickers, T shirts, etc. as the film tours the country.
Distribution: Of The Vine is being produced with the intent of solidifying a worldwide distribution deal that would exploit Foreign Sales, Domestic Home Video/DVD Sales, Theatrical Sales and Domestic Cable Sales, in addition to ancillary markets such as Internet and Soundtrack sales. The hope is to produce a product of high enough quality and marketability that we would be able to sell the film outright to the highest bidder. We are always prepared, however, to take it the opposite direction and sign with a reputable sales agent to handle all markets.

Keeping the Negative Cost Low: As mentioned earlier, our approach to film-making is to produce studio quality motion pictures at a fraction of the cost. We do this in a number of ways. First and foremost, we are able to attach A list actors at reduced rates by cutting them in on the back end of the film's profits. This in no way affects the investor's back end participation. Second, Odyssey has established solid relationships with Product Placement resources such as Premier Entertainment, who represents mega companies such as Coca-Cola, McDonalds, Guinness, Tullys Coffee, Champion, Lotus, Harley Davidson, etc. Through corporate sponsorships and product placement, we are able to keep our production costs modest. Finally, Odyssey Motion Pictures has an equipment rental division. By using the production and post production equipment that we already own, the negative cost of our productions is kept at a minimum. The lower the negative cost, the easier it is to turn a profit.

Line Item Budget & Schedule: Available Upon Request.
