The History of Restaurant Toulouse

In September 1990 Ellen Heyer purchased the turn of the century building, which was originally used as a livery and fire station. With Ellen's vision and help from local architect, Dick Rudich, the building was drastically renovated on the inside, brought up to original condition on the outside and was transformed into a place for visitors and residents to shop and dine. Since the doors opened Toulouse has recieved Wine Spectators Award of Excellence and the Zagat award of distrinction multiple times. Ellen also recieved the Heritage Perservation Award for the preservation of the historic building in in 2008.

~Foie Gras $14 Accompanied with carmalized onions, tomato caper compote, and boursin pancetta crustini topped with a parsley lime aioli

~Escargot Madrid $10 Lightly scented with butter, pancetta, tomato, garlic, shallots and parsley

~Mussels Provencal $10 Steamed to perfection in coconut milk, red curry, shallots, garlic and tomatoes

~Hummus $9 In house made, served atop wilted spinach, spinach tortilla chips, feta cheese and sundried tomato vinaigrette

~Lamb Lollipops $12 Marinated lamb chops served with a creamy sundried polenta and mint aioli

~Caprese Salad $9.00 Fresh Roma tomatoes, sliced motzarella, fresh basil atop a bed of mixed greens finished with olive oil and balsamic

~Ceasar Salad $7/$10 Fresh romaine tossed in homemade caesar dressing accompanied with shaved parmesean and spicy carrots

~Mixed Greens $6/$9 Spring mix tossed with pine nuts, feta cheese, dried cherries and choice of dressing

~Epinards Salad $12 Marinated butternut squash, kalamata olives and tomatoes finished with blue cheese served atop fresh spinach

~Fromage Burger $9 1/3 pound burger grilled to temperature and served on a brioche bun finished with a boursin pancetta cheese and carmelized onion

~Boursin Penne $13 Penne pasta tossed in boursin cheese, mushroom, tomato garlic, spinach finsihed with asiago and scallions.

~Vegetarian Dagwood $11 Double decker with grilled portabella mushrooms, jalapenos and onions, parsley lime aioli, breaded eggplant with marinara finished with gouda cheese and fries

~Lamb Chops $23 Three double rib lamb chops, grilled to temperature with carmalized shallot bordelaise sauce and served wtih roasted buttermilk potato and vegetable du jour

~Stick Salmon 4oz 14 8oz 20 Sockeye salmon seared to medium and tossed in a mustard gastric sided with goat cheese gnocchi and vegetable du jour

~Walleye Buerre Rouge $19 Walleye lightly dusted in walnut flour accented with shallots, red wine vinegar butter, rice pilaf and vegetable du jour

~Chicken Picatta $17 Thinly sliced breaded chicken breast drizzled with a lemon caper beurre blanc with rice pilaf and vegetable du jour

~Coquilles St Jacques $23 Sea scallops, mushrooms and sherry cream sauce with dutchess potatoes and vegetable du jour

~Filet of Beef $28 Pepper seasoned beef tenderloin topped with blue cheese butter and bordelaise sauce, finished with roasted buttermilk potatoe and vegetable du jour

~Duck Breast 5oz 19 10zo 25 Grilled duck breast, finished with an Apricot cranberry sauce and whole grilled portabella mushroom cap with fresh vegetables

~Entrecote Pork 21 Grilled pork rubbed with adobe, sided with grilled leeks, roasted buttermilk potatoes and bordelaise

~Stuffed Peppers $15 One Poblano pepper stuffed with roasted eggplant and finished with vegan veloute, red pepper stuffed wtih feta cheese, apricot, and pine nuts served wtih rice pilaf and vegetable du jour

what a marveloud meal we enjoyed recently at Restaurant Toulouse. We will definately be regulars now that we have found Saugatucks best kept secret !
