About Suburban Funeral
In the spring of 96',from the ashes of CRYONAX arose SUBURBAN FUNERAL.The 3 founding members,Travis Bjork,Paul Macdonald and Steve Parker got together to play one show.Over 12 years later,SUBURBAN FUNERAL is still going strong. The release of there self titled CD in 99' formed the foundation of years to come. With songs like "The Bottom" and "G-tune",S.F. played local Kalamazoo shows, building a strong fan base.In 2001,the band released there 2nd CD entitled "Music....My Drug".Highlights of this era include opening for "Union"(Bruce Kulic of Kiss and John Corrobie of Motley Crue) and playing the classic metal festival at the Kalamazoo state theater with bands such as Anvil and Hirax. In 02',S.F. added Andy York(guitar-vocalist) to the lineup. In 03' S.F. found themselves without a drummer as Steve Parker moved to Phoenix.Enter Dave Apa to take over the drumming duties just in time for the release of there 3rd CD"Complete control" which has the S.F. classic "Corruptor".In 04',S.F. got to open for Kings x(Travis's favorite band).Recording there 4th CD wouldn't be as easy.Recording at Andy's house for over a year produced a non S.F. sounding CD so it was scratched.Looking for change,Travis and Paul parted ways with Andy and Dave and invited Jeff Kline to take over the drumming duties.Back as a three piece they released the long awaited 4th CD intitled "Derailed" in may of 08'.Derailed has such S.F. classics like "The Sender"and"Graves are being Dug".In the summer of 08',S.F got Dave Apa back into the band as a guitarist. S.F. has had a busy summer playing shows and is looking forward to writing new songs this winter. We had to say goodbye to Jeff this fall do to the fact he's on 2nd shift. We are back to a three piece with Dave on drums and will be recording the follow up to derailed in the spring of 2010
